One of the most common problems individuals have with their vapes is that they leak. Especially for those who are new to vaping. The thing to keep in mind is that any tank can leak under the “wrong” conditions, but there are some tanks on the market that are less prone to leaking.
Whatever the type of leak, there is almost always a straightforward repair, and today we are trying to help you figure out what the problem is and hopefully fix it.
The majority of the time, you won’t notice a leak in your tank until liquid escapes the airflow. Leaking can range from a few drops of e-liquid to your entire tank emptying all of its contents in the messiest way possible, depending on the cause.
There are a few frequent causes of leakage, and the following is a starting point to start looking if your vaporizer is leaking:
Keep Your Tanks Upright
No tank is designed to be on its side for long periods. Try to keep your vape vertical as much as possible. It can be challenging at times, but it’s a common source of leaks.
If I’m going to store vape in my bag and there isn’t a pocket to keep it upright, I’ve discovered that emptying the tank is the best approach to prevent leaks in the device. Another approach is to look for a filling area cap, especially in Smok Nord 4 device.
Check Your O-Rings
O-rings will eventually wear out, become stiff and brittle, or even be torn up when the tank is open to change the coils. When diagnosing a leaking problem, don’t forget to examine the seals.
When disassembling a tank to replace a coil or clean it, it’s not uncommon for individuals to misplace a seal or o-ring. When you obtain a new product, familiarize yourself with where the seals should be in the tank so that if there are any leaking concerns, you can determine if one is missing or damaged.
Check Your Coils
There will always be a few disappointments in any mass-produced product. The coil may have manufacturing faults that prevent it from effectively holding the juice, causing the tank to leak.
First, double-check that the coil head is properly inserted, and if it is, simply replace the coil, preferably with one from a different batch than the one you’re using now. If the issue persists, it is most likely due to one of the other reasons discussed above.
Incorrect Wattage
Another factor that might cause a coil to burn is operating it at a wattage level that is too high or too low. If you run a coil outside of the recommended range, it will dry out faster. If you are not running at the wattage specified on the package, the juice may not be vaporized, causing it to get “wet” and leak varying amounts of liquid.
Heat
The quality and consistency of your E-liquid can also be affected by hot temperatures and intense sunshine. When exposed to extreme temperatures and sunshine, some E-liquids may lose their flavor. When E-liquid is exposed to direct sunlight, it becomes significantly thinner, which can lead to leaking and spit back in tanks and pods.
Pocket Firing
If you unintentionally leave your device on in your pocket/bag and it fires for an extended amount of time, your coil will overheat and burn out. If you haven’t noticed yet, the first sign could be that your vape is starting to leak for no apparent reason.
Cracked Glass
When using a vaporizer with a glass tank, it is very usual for the glass to crack or shatter due to unintentional droppings. Since the crack can be difficult to perceive at times, make sure to inspect it completely.
Final Words
Just keep in mind that a leaking tank isn’t the end of the world. Most of the time, it’ll be a quick repair, and you’ll be back to vaping in no time.
